Mentoring

In Paul’s second letter to Timothy he says, “These things which you have seen in me, entrust to reliable men who will be qualified to teach others.” (II Timothy 2:2) Here there are four generations: Paul, Timothy, reliable; those who will be qualified. Arguably, Paul was a minister worth emulating. So mentors would do well to emulate Paul. More so, Jesus mentored twelve. Each of us has to decide how many to mentor. Each person’s calling is different and each may not be called to mentor twelve or any number. Moving forth as the Spirit leads sets the person to mentor those he or she is designed to mentor, or to prepare for mentoring when the Lord is ready for that. In any case, mentoring involves setting an example, speaking words that build others up, serving to equip others and more.
